Advice from a vibrant 100-year-old.
Hello Seekers of Greater Well-BEing!
When people make it way up in years, especially past 100 years of age AND are still leading a productive, fulfilling life, they often get asked: “What’s your secret? What’s your advice?” In a recent podcast, 100-year-old Marshall Rauch was asked just that. His reply: " Don’t try to do it all by yourself. Let People Help You.” He also said to never stop growing, improving, having a goal. Now that’s great advice that we should all ponder. This guy is amazing. He’s not done making this place a better world.
As simple as “let people help you” may sound, we can ALL up our game in taking Marshall’s advice. Importantly, Marshall didn’t say “Ask for help.” He said, “Let People Help You.” Oftentimes, you don’t even need to ask. There are so many people who devote their lives to helping others. They are everywhere! There are countless people who know one of the most important ingredients to a fulfilling life: SERVE OTHERS. They know how to get you to the next level of whatever you desire. They live what I call the “3Gs of Greatness”:
I owe so much of my fulfillment in life, so many of my accomplishments, to people who gave me advice. Sometimes I asked for it, I even paid for it by attending many conferences, webinars, buying their books. Oftentimes, they just cared about me. I didn’t ask them for help/advice. They just wanted to help me. They saw something I didn’t. I give myself credit for one thing: I listened! But how many times did I not listen? Too many!
There are so many people with various expertise offering to help us, and we are not taking their advice. Recently, Jeff and I were watching a webinar given by world-renowned Tony Robbins (probably the #1 self-development person in the world who has spoken to over 50 million people in EVERY country on the planet). He said that people who succeed know they must let others help them, and they seek them out. If the first person can’t help in a particular area, that’s OK. Find someone else! In his audiences of thousands of people, he says the people that make the most changes are those that showed up with a burning desire to get better, to find others who can help them.
What areas of your life need a boost or even a kickstart: physically, emotionally, socially, financially, spiritually? Who can help you, your company, school, organization? LET PEOPLE HELP YOU! It takes humility. It takes courage. The most successful people often are not the smartest, most talented. They’re the ones who search for the solutions and apply the concepts. They refuse to stay in a suboptimal state of well-being where they do NOT belong. They don’t fear failure. They fear not showing up. Let people help you. That’s living WELL aware!
